Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Children and Mothers Welfare Society and Chair of the Information Center for Women and Children, has announced the winners of the 12th Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Scientific Prize for 2021.
The theme of the award this year was “Environmental challenges and problems in the Arab region.”
The winners are Dr. Maha Mahmoud Al-Sabbagh, for her research “The role of environmental associations in protecting the Gulf environment: the current situation and future aspirations”, Amna Abdulrahman Al Hamid for her research “Environmental protection in Bahraini and comparative legislation”, and Shaikha Ahmed Jassim Al Alawi for her research “Legal protection for the environment from an international and Arab perspective.”
Shaikha Hind congratulated the winners and noted that the theme of the award and the special attention accorded to the environment are among the most important topics for states, leaders and peoples.
Based on its significance, the theme of environmental challenges and problems in the Arab region has attracted a large number of researchers from Bahrain and overseas, she said.
The winners will present their researches at a virtual ceremony on March 31.
The biennial award, launched in 1997, is dedicated to Bahraini and Arab researchers.
