Manama, Mar. 29 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met the State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Wang Yi, at Riffa Palace.
His Excellency Yi conveyed the greetings of the President of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, and the greetings of the Premier of the State Council of China, His Excellency Li Keqiang. In response, His Royal Highness extended his sincere greetings to both the President and Prime Minister of China.
His Royal Highness highlighted the wide-ranging growth in relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and China, which continues to be supported by cooperation across various sectors.
His Royal Highness noted that the global COVID-19 pandemic has added a new dimension to international cooperation driven by humanitarian principles and commitment to full economic recovery.
His Royal Highness noted that in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives, the Kingdom continues to cooperate with its international partners in combating the spread of the COVID-19 and safeguarding the health of all, adding that the Kingdom has become a successful model for COVID-19 mitigation efforts, thanks to national efforts, social awareness of citizens and residents and the responsibility that comes along with it.
His Royal Highness conveyed the Kingdom’s role as a key partner to the United Arab Emirates and China in COVID-19 phase III clinical trials. In this regard, His Royal Highness noted the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening joint cooperation between the countries.
His Royal Highness and HE Yi also discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Additional regional and international issues of common interest were also discussed.
For his part, HE Yi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and noted HRH’s continued commitment in furthering Bahrain-China bilateral ties. HE Yi further noted the Kingdom’s ongoing contribution, alongside international partners, in combating the spread of COVID-19 and its active cooperation with China in this regard.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, were also in attendance.
