HM King’s assistance delivered to fishermen

Manama, Apr. 5 (BNA): In line with directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to protect fishermen and their livelihoods, Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, today handed out assistance to fishermen, ordered by HM the King to fisherman, out of the royal dedication to ensuring decent living to all citizens.

 

The Capital Governor conveyed HM King Hamad’s greetings to fishermen, highlighting HM the King’s closely follow up on Bahraini fishermen’s conditions and suffering, and directives to provide care and support to them and their families.

 

“I’m honoured to present the assistance of HM the King to you for the significant harms you encountered, including your livelihoods and confiscation of your boats by the Qatari authorities,” he said.

 

The Governor valued the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also highlighted the follow up of the Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, on the cases of fishermen and their requirements in order to fulfil them.

 

The Governor asserted that Bahrain, through its leadership and people, stands with Bahrain fishermen and their rights to earn their livelihoods in security and tranquility. He hailed the support of the members of the Council of Representatives, Shura Council, NGOs and media sector, in addition to society members to the rights of fishermen and the state’s efforts in protecting them.


The fishermen expressed thanks and appreciation to HM the King and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their dedication to following up on their affairs and eliminating obstacles facing them. They also appreciated the support of the Interior Minister in solving problems they encounter because of the aggressive procedures of Qatari authorities to target their livelihoods.
