Manama, Apr. 4 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received, in the presence of HM the King’s Personal Representatives, HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and SCYS First Deputy Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Chairman of the Coordination, Implementation and Follow-up Committee (Estijaba), HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at Al-Safriya Palace today.
Royal Court Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, SCYS Secretary-General, Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Youth and Sports Affairs, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyad, Legal Advisor, Noor Yussif, and Estijaba Secretary-General, Sara Nooh Al-Zuwaid, were also present.
HM King Hamad lauded the steady progress of the youth and sports movement in the kingdom, citing the honourable landmark achievements attained by Bahraini male and female athletes, and their success in reaching podiums at various sports gatherings and competitions.
HM the King affirmed the Kingdom’s interest in developing all legislation and laws that contribute to advancing the sports and youth movement, in addition to continuously updating the systems so as to be in conformity with international laws and regulations which constitute an important basis for sports professionalism, expressing hope that Bahrain’s national teams and clubs will continue representing the nation successfully in all upcoming sports competitions.
HM King Hamad praised the support and interest of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting the march of sports and youth in a way that would benefit all Bahraini athletes.
HM the King commended the tremendous efforts exerted by HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid to support sports professionalism, through adopting multiple programmes and initiatives, contributing to building an integrated and advanced sports system at the administrative and technical levels, which resulted in attaining many distinguished honourable results across various sports fields.
HM the King lauded the role played by the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry to meet the needs of the Bahraini sports and athletes, commensurate with the progress currently witnessed by the youth and sports movement.
HH Shaikh Nasser extended thanks and appreciation to HM the King for his constant care for the Bahraini sports movement which attained numerous accomplishments during HM King Hamad’s prosperous era.
HH Shaikh Nasser stressed that HM the King’s endorsement of the Sports Professionalism Law is living proof of the royal keenness to support the affiliates of the sports movement, and create optimal conditions for them to successfully represent the kingdom at various gatherings.
HH Shaikh Khalid extended thanks and appreciation to HM the King for ratifying and issuing the Sports Professionalism Law, stressing that the Law is a modern legislation that copes with the global sports developments, and will pave the way for Bahraini athletes to increase the kingdom’s achievements during the “Golden Era”.
Youth and Sports Affairs Minister extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HM the King for ratifying and issuing the Sports Professionalism Law, noting that the move reflects the royal keenness to support the sports movement and fulfill the aspirations of Bahraini athletes to move from amateurism to professionalism, which will contribute to increasing achievements.
