Manama, Apr.5 (BNA): Customs President and Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa has participated in the virtual 53rd meeting of customs officials of North Africa, the Near and Middle East region.
During the meeting, he highlighted a proposal to set up an electronic platform to exchange customs information under the supervision of the WCO.
He said that the project was reviewed with many WCO member countries, which expressed their support to the planned online platform.
He said that the proposed platform would contribute to boosting the WCO revenues, enhance its programmes and capabilities to meet its goals.
The meeting discussed the inclusion of Arabic in the WCO operation and building regional capabilities, in addition to the role of the regional offices for exchanging intelligence information and the measures undertaken by member states to combat COVID-19.
